Every individual issue has its own reasons and solutions, so no general answer can be given.

If, for any reason, writing with 019 failed (battery voltage, cable disconnect, whatever else...), you need to perform "Back to stock" with original VBF to return ECU to original state and, after that, start writing with your file again.

Guys i tried doing a sid 209 in a ford ranger it would id the ecu and i could get a virtual read, but when i tried to read or write to the ecu i got communication error after the part where it attempts to patch the ecu

Which j2534 are you using? I did a few of these Rangers, and many Transits, all was fine.

How long time is the protocol 019 (Ford SID209) to be able to read / write all HW?
